When I found out that we would need to fundraise £2800 (now £3200, due to insurance and flight costs) for this trip, I decided that I would take the opportunity to try something new - reaching out to the press. Interestingly, as a child, journalism was the main career path I wanted to go into (not too sure what put me off). Despite being fully aware that it was very unlikely to increase donations, it was something new to try, and with several community-based fundraising events, I thought why not?
